United Methodist Women
BAZAAR
With an ailing economy, we were expecting lackluster results for the Bazaar held on November 7, and “Oh, ye of little faith”...we should not have been surprised at our success. Think of the many hand working, the Methodist Men, the crafters who worked all year long, the ladies who tirelessly prepared for and were present working on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the church staff, the School Center. Thank you all! We also extend appreciation to all the important folks who attended and gave their financial support.
COVERED DISH LUNCHEON
Monday, December 8, at 10:00 AM, we will bring our dishes to the Susanna Wesley Room and then go to the sanctuary, where we will enjoy the School Center’s dress rehearsal Christmas program, always a delight. We will then have a brief meeting, install our new officers for 2009, followed by our luncheon. Be sure to be there for this special event.
CHEER BAGS
Wednesday, December 10th at 9:00 AM is the date for assembling Cheer Bags for our shut-ins. Drop off items in boxes provided any day you come to the church. Items such as toilet articles, bath powder, soap, writing paper, pencils, pens, etc. On Wednesday, December 10th at 9:00 AM bring your homemade cookies to make the bags really special. We need volunteers to assemble and deliver them on that day.
FOOD PANTRY
This year we will not have “SHARE” packages for Thanksgiving and Christmas for needy families. We feel we can best help by contributing to the Food Pantry to keep it well stocked for the 25-35 families who have been coming in for help with food. We thank the Methodist School Center for the big boost they give us every year at this time. This children bring to school a large brown paper bag of canned and boxed foods with times like cranberry sauce, stuffing and canned sweet potatoes.
OPERATION SHOEBOX
Packages will be going to our troops overseas in time for Christmas. Mary Frances Griffith welcomes donations of cash (checks payable to the church). She will fill in the boxes and provide the postage with the cash. Keep her up to date on addresses of those you know.
Our Organization
UMW is a community of women who strive to know God and be more Christ-like and who want to expand concepts of mission through global praticipation of the church. We currently have 4 circles where all women are welcome to gather together each month. We also have the Bazaar workshop where crafts are made for the annual Bazaar, oru lorgest fundraiser. All monies raised are used for the missions and scholarships.
