Welcome Pastor Ice and Family!
The Rev. Jeffrey Ice will preach
his first sermon as the pastor of the Brooksville First United
Methodist Church, 109 South Broad Street, during the
contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. and the 11 a.m. traditional
service on Sunday, July 5th. He and his family will
be welcomed with a luncheon following a 10 a.m. combined service
on July 12th.
For the past five years, Rev. Ice has ministered to a growing
congregation at the Poinciana United Methodist Church in Miami
Springs where he led the members to meet 100 percent of the
church’s apportionments and to develop an addiction recovery
ministry and an outreach to autistic children and their
families.
Rev. Ice, 47, is a graduate of Florida International University
in Miami and Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky and, before
his most recent pastorate in Miami Springs, served the Kathleen
United Methodist Church in Lakeland for five years. He views his
calling to be “to live, teach and preach the Bible, the holy
Word of God” in a church whose mission is “to have transformed
lives going out into an unsaved world proclaiming the truth of
Jesus.”
His wife, Laura, has a master’s degree in Biblical studies and
is working on a doctor of philosophy degree from Asbury
Theological Seminary. They have a 19-year-old son, Ian Lounsburg,
and two daughters, nine-year-old Danielle and five-year-old
Lindsay.
Rev. Ice succeeds the Rev. William J. Oakley, who has been
assigned to the United Methodist Church in East Naples.
Scripture of the Day
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
